Simulation Templates
Simulation templates employ Intusoft's powerful Interactive Command Language
(ICL) for managing a host of design verification functions. The advantage
of having such functions in a scripted language is the user can easily
modify the performance of the verification analysis, if desired, by prescribing
variations on the basic operation. Then, using the normal dialog box that
runs the verification analyses listed below, the user's new rendition
will appear and can be selected with a mouse click. This enables much
more power than fixed design verification routines, which are inflexible
to change. ICL also extends into other routines and functions such as
the 150 custom waveform processing functions within the IntuScope waveform
viewer, plus a multitude of interactive functions the user can impose
while a simulation is paused or running.
All simulation templates
are available as simple selectable functions within the "Simulation
Control" dialog box.
- Monte Carlo: simulation
of statistical variation in component values through their tolerance
range
- Sensitivity: Measurement
of a component's sensitivity to the variance in electrical operation
of another
- Optimization: simulation
of a design section to ascertain optimal passive component values based
on a design goal, i.e., gain-phase margin, rolloff, etc. Standard values
also obtainable
- Worst case: simulation
of harsh tolerance variation on component values
- Extreme value:
simulation of most extreme component variation based on part sensitivities
- Root summed squares:
mathematical worst-case component variation for certain non-linear design,
where tradition worst case analysis is not most adverse
- Nested component
sweep: stepped variation of component value set by user, which progresses
incrementally as a function of the stepped sweep of another
- GFT: General Feedback
Theorem applied to the simulation of open loop circuit properties without
breaking the closed loop configuration under test
