Intusoft's latest ICAP/4
Windows Release 8.x.9
Adds Enhanced Monte Carlo, Optimization and Sweep Analyses
San Pedro, CA (June 18, 2001) -- Intusoft will demonstrate it's latest ICAP/4 circuit simulation software at the Design Automation Conference in Las Vegas and at PCIM Europe in Nuremberg, Germany starting June 18th. Intusoft's 8.x.9 version of ICAP/4 offers three significantly enhanced features: Monte Carlo, Optimization and Sweep. These analyses use unique simulation templates to customize a SPICE-based netlist for enhanced circuit analysis. Simulation templates employ interactive command language (ICL) scripts, which contain embedded instructions that tell a netlist what special operations to perform. Designers can run additional scripts after a simulation is complete to fine-tune and format the data received. ICL scripts expand SPICE software well beyond its traditional boundaries of AC, DC and transient analysis. Without simulation templates, designers must enter nominal values for the parameters of their circuit, and, in order to see the effects of parameter tolerance variation, they must change those parameters in a cumbersome, time-consuming and often costly process. But with ICAP/4 and DxDesigner, electrical engineers can customize statistical analyses of the circuit measurements based on parameter variations, such as sensitivity analysis, root summed square, extreme value and worst case analysis. Monte Carlo enables designers to perform statistical analyses early on, including generating histogram and probability plots and reports for measurements. Now designers can tag data points that show the selected simulation run, each component's parametric value, and its sigma deviation from nominal. Mean, standard deviation and error operations are also provided, helping to ensure manufacturing compliance early in the design cycle. Optimization measures an objective function specified by the designer, which tailors circuit parameter values to meet important design criteria. This simulation template automates the selection of component values to achieve the best design outcome, for example, output voltage, unity gain and filter passband, as specified by the objective function. Sweep analysis lets designers set a start point, end point and step sizes for two parameters simultaneously and sweep those values, graphically depicting the results. Thanks to ICL scripts, additional sweeps can be automatically repeated and viewed in the post-simulation analysis environment without having to continuously re-tag components at the schematic. The ICAP/4 Windows software also includes a Windows-based SpiceMod data sheet modeling program, a new Library Manager, and a completely redesigned waveform analyzer. The analyzer contains new waveform viewing features and new mathematical operations with waveforms for instant "what-if" analysis. New BSIM4, version 4.2 MOSFET models and EKV models were also added for the design and simulation of low voltage, low-current analog, and mixed analog-digital circuits using submicron CMOS technologies. Established in 1985, Intusoft designs, develops and markets award-winning
software applications and tools for analog and mixed-signal circuit design,
analysis and test automation to electronics industries worldwide. Information
